5.0 out of 5 stars The new "Bible" for healthcare leadership!!!

By Kara

Wendy Lipton-Dibner has created a masterpiece with M.A.D. Leadership for Healthcare. As an internist in private practice looking for practical tips, this is the first management book that I found that relates directly to healthcare, and it's basically a slam dunk. The writing stye is conversational, easy, and fun to read. The organizational strategy is brilliant. The vignettes are chillingly accurate. The solutions for dealing with people are magical. Reading this book brought me one "aha" moment after another, and I plan to make it a "must read" for every person of influence within my organization. Thank you, Wendy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Help your team bond!

By James W. Srour (York, Pa USA)

If you were to be able to magically change your practice into what you want, how would it look? Would each of your employees look forward to getting to work each day? Would they go out of there way to help your patients have a better experience with their visit? Would they treat each other with respect and humility, working hard to bring out the best in each other? Would they promote your practice as the greatest practice on planet Earth? This book can show you how to make this a reality. I have seen it happen in my own practice.

In this age of Increasing medical practice complexity with growing costs and decreasing bottom line, finding and keeping good employees is mandatory for success. It is only by investing effort that you can hope to bring out the very best in each member of your staff. But how in our fast paced lives do we get the training and the tools so that we are able to help our associates develop into the team we need? It is to this end that Get M.A.D. was written. This easy to read and understand text teaches the formulas that help get us to understand those human beings we have hired without being threatening or dominating. And, just as importantly, it shows us ways to help each employee to problem solve for him or herself, thus increasing potential and self worth.

For those of us who have been through a Dibner-lead motivational program, this text will be both a superb review as well as a handy reference guide. There is obviously far more in these pages than can have been taught in any 2-3 day session. Thus, reading and studying will lead to an even greater understanding and appreciation of the Action Formula and all that goes with it. Try reading a section each day before going to work. Your life and that of your employees will be better for it!

Filled to the edge of the page with Wendy's characteristic charm and humor, this manual is golden--- chockfull with how-to's every step of the way, illustrations of the key elements, handy-dandy charts designed to make your practice life flow, and lots of success tips.

Having participated in the hands-on M.A.D. training and team building as only Wendy and Hal can do it, I can vouch for how well it works. We had a good, solid orthodontic practice, got M.A.D., rejuvenated ourselves and our team, and boosted our bottom-line into Unbelievable!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Leadership Information Available

By M. C. B. Greeley

M. Constance B. Greeley, DDS Private Practice, Orthodontics

I've spent a lifetime developing patient and practice management skills. I've read everything I could get my hands on, but nowhere have I ever read such a comprehensive, common sense approach. It should be the bible of all healthcare practices, maybe for all businesses.

MAD for Leadership Healthcare is not your ordinary "how to" book. This book unlocks the secrets of the human psyche - our own and that of the people we need to relate to on a daily basis in order to be effective and succeed.

Wise and witty, MAD Leadership for Healthcare is easy to read, easy to teach and easily adaptable to the practice environment. If we all incorporate these techniques into our practices, we may actually have a reasonable answer to the health care crisis.

It's a master piece. I wish I'd had this years ago but it's never too late to get better. I can't wait to give out copies to my colleagues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for Healthcare Leadership

By Luke J. Curtsinger "Plastic Surgeon" (Savannah, GA)

Luke J. Curtsinger, MD, Private Practice, Coastal Empire Plastic Surgery

M.A.D. Leadership for Healthcare summarizes the successful techniques used by Ms. Lipton-Dibner in her very effective healthcare consulting business. This book is a blueprint for peace, prosperity and understanding in medical and dental practices. Utilizing the techniques described in this book, our practice has enjoyed a better working environment, with happier office staff and higher conversion rates for our patients. Because of these techniques, the `difficult' patient has become a rarity. This book is a `Must Read' for struggling and thriving practices alike. Not just a great book on applied business psychology, this book can guide healthcare professionals to identify and achieve whatever they truly want!

5.0 out of 5 stars Douglas M. Stevens, MD

By Douglas M. Stevens

Douglas M. Stevens, MD Private Practice

Past President Lee County Medical Society, delegate to the Florida Medical Society

This is quite an effort - she has captured in detail the powerful techniques that she has perfected during her career as a business consultant. My staff and I worked hard with Wendy over many months to utilize these techniques. We have found them to be very useful in speaking to and understanding our patients as well as each other. Her techniques also allowed us to get out of our own way as we transitioned from an 80% insurance based practice to an 80% cosmetic, non insurance based practice. In helping us to get past our own barriers we are now able to help our patients do the same.

The book is packed with not only descriptions of the techniques but various examples and scenarios encountered during Wendy's career. These real world narratives are necessary to allow for group discussion and practice. The concepts in this book appear simple on the surface but they do represent a change that will require commitment from the doctors and their staff.

I recommend this book to anyone who is ready to step out of the drudge that modern medicine has become and into a world where the patient is the focus of attention.
