Hospitals Expect Capital Expenditures to Increase

Most hospitals expect to increase their capital expenditures over the next five years. Nearly three-quarters of chief financial officers (CFOs), from hospitals of all sizes, indicated that they plan to increase capital spending by more than 14 percent per year, according to a recent survey by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). The issues to be addressed by increased capital spending are: to keep the fixed assets of a hospital current, upgrade its technology, and increase its capacity.
